Charlie Day

Charlie is inspired by both the East Sussex coastline and the seascapes of North Norfolk, which he visits often with family. He is influenced by the St Ives painters of the last century and is particularly moved by the work of Peter Lanyon and Roger Hilton. He works on found materials that cannot be recycled and would otherwise be sent to landfill. The application of his paint is impasto and very gestural: he is concerned with how these brushstrokes and knife marks coalesce into an image
