Jill Tattersall

I used to teach medieval French. My research into early maps led to a fascination with how the world has been depicted in different cultures and times. Creation myths and theories keep reappearing in my work; also science and art and where they meet: in landscapes, surfaces, and the patterns of nature. I often work on my own paper with its unique texture, using paints, inks, dyes and pure pigments to build up intense and glowing colour. I’ve shown paintings all over the UK; my work is in collections from Peru to Tasmania!

Jill Tattersall is exhibiting at her own Open House The Wolf at the Door and also at The Nigel Rose Gallery
