I hand build ceramic sculptures using a slightly groggy stoneware clay that suits my style of sculpting, it’s edgy yet forgiving. My sculptures are of hybrid figures, animal heads with buxom Picasso-esque human forms. More recently I have sculpted just animal heads, particularly dog heads with human necks and shoulders, in essence portrait busts. Larger than life size and possessing glass eyes, their overall effect is flamboyant and theatrical, a little idiosyncratic but captivating too. I am inspired by people and animals and their stories.
