Opening its doors for the second time on the Fiveways Trail (previously we were the Secret Garden), this large Edwardian house is a hidden gem set back from the road surrounded by a mature garden in which you can enjoy festive refreshments. The house showcases an exciting mix of sixteen local artists working in a wide variety of media that bridge between the contemporary and the traditional. A fantastic opportunity for unique Christmas gifts or to brighten up your house. If you can’t make a visit, then look out for our online shop on instagram.

This unique porcelain mug is hand painted with images of the Rampion Wind Turbines When making these illustrative ceramic pieces in my Brighton studio I work with porcelain. This gives me a smooth canvas for meticulous drawings of the South Downs and coast. I work form memories and photographs as I hand paint and layer glazes onto my pieces. This process takes many hours. Currently I am working on a series of functional ceramic pieces that are inspired by the impact that we have on the land, from barbed wire fences and pylons, to the Rampion Wind Turbines. 11 cm diameter x 7 cm height

Maya mythology depicts the jaguar as a strong and powerful creature. The endangered jaguar population of the USA currently roam through Arizona to Mexico. This area is known as a wildlife corridor. They once roamed all over North America but by the late 1960s, Panthera onca goldmani were thought to have been eliminated in the United States. The next sighting was in 1996 in Arizona. The 1,200 square miles along the U.S./ Mexico border is an essential habitat for the conservation of the jaguar. Trump’s wall proposal threatens their recovery and further endangers the species. The first time I saw Constantin Brancusi’s sculpture my tummy did a little flip, I love his clean lined, beautifully balanced organic sculptural forms. I studied sculpture at university and the essence of Brancusi’s sculpture had a huge impact on my approach to my own work. Even now, it is the simplest, most elegant, elemental forms that I enjoy the most. This bag is made out of cork which is a natural, organic vegan textile.
