Jo Harrison
By day I am a graphic designer and illustrator working largely in the women's sector and events industry. I got my degree in Visual Culture in 2006 and half an MA in Sequential Design & Illustration at Brighton University and I've spent the last 20 years (alongside things such as running art classes in a hospice, community art projects, co-founding WORDfest Crawley, and feminist campaigning) agonised over meaning and whether I am actually an artist (eyeroll).I recently decided ‘f*ck this for a game of skittles’ and have given myself permission to enjoy making stuff; such a relief. My side projects are a varied mixture of digital and analogue techniques, combining ipad drawing, ink, glue-gunned cardboard, occasional textiles and airbrushing, whatever medium suits the idea and vice versa.
I also run doodling sessions and workshops that encourage people to tackle the blank page, play and explore. I'm running 2 sessions during the Artists Open House run, come along! Link below.
