Artists Open Houses Launch Party 2017
This year’s Artists Open Houses (AOH) launch party took place at The Old Market, Hove last night with a great turnout from AOH’s exhibiting artists and city VIP’s.
The night was also the preview of Penelope Kenny’s fantastic exhibition in The Old Market’s Waterloo Room. Australian born, but long-time Brighton resident, artist Kenny is AOH 2017 Brochure Cover Artist. She will also be exhibiting her work in three open houses: The Flamingo House, Peggy Poppleton and Friends, and The Stanley Road Store.
They launch night continued with speeches by AOH Director Judy Stevens, The Mayor, Cllr Pete West and Nick Hibberd from Brighton and Hove City Council, talking about the importance of Artist Open Houses to the city and celebrating its intentional flavour and community inclusivity.
The speeches were followed by an amazing and entertaining performance from Lorraine Bowen, an English singer, songwriter, comedian and musician. Bowen’s ‘Polyester Fiesta!’ will be performed in Brighton Fringe 2017, at the Spiegeltent.
Guests were treated to gift bags of plant-based beauty products from Aesop, coming soon to Brighton!
It was a great night – with much pizza eaten – and thoroughly enjoyed by all there!
The AOH 2017 Festival will run from 6-29 May, throughout Brighton, Hove and beyond.
