Art on the Line – AOH artist Kate Strachan looks back and forwards

Kate  Strachan, behind the desk at my Artists Open House (in my happy place!)
This will be my 9th year opening at Christmas. Previously I’ve curated the show with fellow artist, and neighbour, Shyama Ruffell who lives over the railway line….  hence the name Art Across the Line. This year I’m flying solo so have adjusted the name to Art On the Line
Kate Strachan, in my studio at Phoenix Art Space, Brighton. Here I make screen prints and textiles, teach part time and am on the Board of Trustees. Phoenix takes part in Artists Open Houses in the May festival and it’s a wonderful opportunity to come and visit all the artists in their workspaces. Phoenix Open weekend 2022 -21/22 May.

I always make a festive window display of some sort, often from unusual or recycled materials…..rubber gloves, old cutlery, paper mache pears and some old decorators ladders!
