Jacob Frerichs

Jacob is a Dutch artist living in Hove who sculpts primarily in wood which is painted, mixing his own colours with linseed oil and pigments bought from a traditional pigment-producing windmill in the Netherlands. The paint is applied following the contours. Jacob creates sculptures that stand by themselves but in a fragile, precarious way. Often the works deal with the challenge of creating a balance between the way the weight is distributed and using minimal floor surface. Jacob studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths, London and has exhibited widely.
