Paul Thomas

I make paintings and drawings that aim to reflect the emotional response that I feel in very particular natural environments such as isolated ponds and lakes. Bodies of water interest me greatly and I am fascinated by reflections, trees and islands – both physical and metaphorical. By drawing and painting I try to forge a better understanding of the world that surrounds me. I do not try to portray these situations in an academic or realistic way but endeavour to capture a sense of mood and atmosphere of isolation.
