The Duke of York's Legs

Adele Walshe

Glass artist Adele Walshe combines technical precision with playful storytelling in her expressive glasswork.
She’s known for her “legs” series, inspired by Brighton’s Duke of York’s Cinema—whose recreated glass limbs now hang proudly in the venue’s bar. Other works include cheerful peeping animals, whimsical Punch and Judy figures, and bespoke pet portraits. Adele also creates leaded panels of local scenes and undertakes commissions that range from Spitfires to Stratocasters, wedding keepsakes to anniversary mementos.

Adele has embraced fused glass, experimenting with powders, metals, collage, and more, discovering the alchemy of materials and methods. Her studio practice is dynamic and collaborative—each piece are invitations to connect, smile, and share in a story told through colour, light, and form. She has also added to her repertoire pet portraits in stained glass on commission.

Rooted in curiosity and guided by joy, Adele’s glasswork reflects a life lived with creative open
