La Restinga Lagoon, Margarita Island (60 x 60 cms 2026)

Pablo Penchaszadeh

My work is fundamentally an emotional journey, drawing inspiration from nature, though not in a figurative way. Textures and colours are bound together through processes that often lead to unpredictable outcomes, which become integral to the work itself. I work on canvas surfaces using a variety of materials, primarily acrylics, which allow me to incorporate different types of sand—generally collected from beaches—each selected for the specific effect it produces. Black volcanic sand from Antarctica, calcareous sands from the Caribbean, and quartz-rich sands are used to achieve specific porosity and relief levels, creating tactile and dynamic surfaces. My background as a marine biologist has led me to a wide range of environments and landscapes, and each place, each lived experience, enriches my creative spirit.
