Carrie Reichardt

Carrie Reichardt is a British artist known for her provocative protest art and collaborative large-scale ceramic murals around the world that deal with systemic injustice and social activism.
A notable example of her mosaic style, The Treatment Rooms a.k.a. Mosaic House, is also Reichardt's home base and studio.
For this show she has reworked a series of 1980's Norman Rockwell plates and re-fired them with ceramic transfers to play around with the notion of womanhood and give them a modern twist. . Re-defining what strong women would look like if they didn't care about what others thought about them. Like a rallying call for women to get in touch with their inner banshee/witch and reject the passive patriarchal roles represented in these original plates.
