I am fascinated by the tension between order and the unpredictable that can be observed in the natural world: nature’s ability to adapt to chance disruptive elements and to trigger a self-reordering response. I distil rules that initially provide the logic for making, with materials +processes with potential for unpredictability and that often results in an ongoing struggle between the materials, the work and myself. It is a labour-intensive process of enquiry and play. Curiosity and the surprise element drive me, not knowing what will unfold.
