Paul Penketh
I am a Fine Artist working in the mediums of painting and photography. This is a new body of work titled “A Long Walk to Now”. My work is abstract, expressive and considered, aiming to engage the viewer in the sense of space, light and energy that I experienced during long daily walks in 2021/2022.My inspiration is the natural landscape, seascape and urban structures that form the settings for the walks. Whilst walking I acutely observe everything that I see, hear and feel often repeating the same routes numerous times to build familiarity within the location, the movement and flow of energy in the physical environment and within my mind and body within these spaces is central to my concerns: a process of mindful gathering of resources.
I notice the banal: surfaces, colours, shapes and forms both manmade and natural. I allow my mind and body to be open and interact with the smallest detail or the largest structures, noting motifs and forms that I discover.
