Hand-colied and embroidered gemstone bracelets

Tanvi Kant

Tanvi is an interdisciplinary artist reworking reclaimed textiles into tactile, colour-inspired sculptural forms, drawing upon the convergence of the symbolic functions of cloth, costume and adornment. She primarily works with clothing that is no longer worn such as saris, scarves, and dress-making off-cuts sourced from her circles of family and friends.

Through unashamedly simple repetitive techniques of hand-stitching, binding, coiling and knotting Tanvi creates sculptural forms for the body as jewellery, soft sculptures and participatory installations for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Tanvi will be showing her textile jewellery at The Barn on the Green, Ditchling Village Barn as part of the Art in Ditchling Trail.
Dates: Saturday 11th - Sunday 12th May 2024
