Doggy Paddle
Jessica Barrah
I started exploring arts and crafts in evening classes, then took a course in graphic design at the Brighton MET. I recently moved away from digital illustration to painting, pottery and linocut – things I can make with my hands, away from screens, preferably listening to a good audiobook in my shed.I’m still learning, and figuring out my ‘style’, but my work is always colourful, featuring garden flowers and plants, cats and dogs, and local wildlife and landscapes.
My last three paintings have been commissions of dogs – I’m open to doing pet portraits, so do get in touch!
I also love ceramics and textiles, so often paint garden flowers in a jug against a scarf or patterned cloth, inspired by a ‘Bloomsbury’ aesthetic.
I just hope that my art makes people feel more cheerful – we all need a bit of that these days…
