Bow study / Inspired by Marie Antoinette and the decorative language of bows and ceremonial decoration

Ksenia Semirova

Ksenia Semirova is a hand embroidery artist working between Hove and London. Her work moves between art, craft, fashion, and teaching.

She works with traditional embroidery techniques in a contemporary context, using them as part of an active practice rather than treating them as heritage alone. Her work engages with cultural, historical, environmental, social, and political contexts in a reflective way, without direct illustration.

Alongside her studio work, she teaches embroidery online and through private training in her London studio.

Her work is developed through ongoing making, commissions, and collaborations, with a focus on how embroidery operates in the present rather than as a reference to the past.
