Artist Talk / Emma Jesse
Times: 6pm-9pm
Every May weekend, daytime Adelaide Studio invites you to ‘VISION’ – exhibition showcasing sculptures and performances by Paulina Anzorge & evening SERIES OF TALKS by creatives whose voices impact our world views.
Let us introduce: Emma Jesse
Emma Jesse is a multi-talented filmmaker from West Sussex with a unique background blending English and Spanish heritage. Initially trained as a set and costume designer, Emma had a pivotal realization: she would never make the films she truly longed for unless she took control and made them herself.
This epiphany marked the beginning of Emma’s journey as a filmmaker, where she fearlessly tackles subjects like toxic masculinity and peer pressure in her debut film, “Soggy Biscuit. The film has garnered attention worldwide, from screenings in Texas and Boston to Sweden, Berlin, Cannes, and beyond.
Now poised to embark on her forthcoming Film, “Asking 4 it,” Emma endeavours to navigate the complex terrain of sexual assault with dark humour. Through this venture, she seeks to illuminate and educate the reality of sexual assault among diverse audiences.
Emma will host an evening featuring the screening of her award-winning short film, “Soggy Biscuit,” followed by a Q&A session and an introduction to her next project, “Asking 4 it.”
Attendees will then have the opportunity to explore the intricately designed sets and costumes showcased for the upcoming film. This promises to be a visually stimulating journey, offering guests a firsthand glimpse into the creative process of filmmaking.
