Mette Mayer writes: “This talk examines the role of movement, memory, and materiality in my sculptural ceramic practice. Drawing on the ocean as both symbol and force, I investigate how the wave—ephemeral, rhythmic, and transformative—can be embodied in form. Through processes involving organic structures, controlled construction, and multiple firings, my work engages with the tension between permanence and impermanence. Making Waves reflects on how ceramic practice can articulate the shifting boundaries between the internal and external, the individual and the collective, the imagined and the real.”
