People and Places – Revelations of Love. The landscapes I love to depict in my work are often populated with people, but somehow not shown and ‘behind the camera’. For the first time, I am moving these companions in focus to give them the merit that they own. Out of love, I show friends, partners, passers-by and myself too; in and outdoors. With vibrant energetic colours I am revisiting buildings I love; coastal scenes, city escapes and the stunning Sussex countryside. An artist’s life journey.

Dozing and Sea Gazing at the Beach Hut by Hove Lawns, Brighton This print portrays the charm of a Victorian Shelter along Brighton and Hove’s seafront. The shelter is brimming with intricate details, from the wrought-iron designs, including the distinctive Hove Ship emblem, to the tall columns and glazed panels framing the expansive sea view. Two people sit on the benches, basking in the sunlight that filters through the windows. Above, a canopy held by ornate brackets adds grace to the structure, while a parapet with quatrefoil cut-outs and finials tops off the elegant design. Surrounding the scene are the Victorian railings, the remnants of the West Pier, and the bright midday sun. The Hove Ship The Hove Ship, seen in the ironwork of Hove’s Victorian shelters, represents a 16th-century French galley, marking the French attacks on Hove’s coast during that time. Hove’s original coat of arms, granted in 1899, featured this ship, grounded on a shingle beach, as a reminder of the 16th-century French raids. When Brighton and Hove were united in 1997, the ship was kept in the new coat of arms, preserving its historical significance.
