Last weekend to visit ALTERED

Claire Wearn curated ALTERED, a pop-up exhibition in Churchill Square after hearing artists over the past year talk about ways they innovated their work processes around COVID-19 restrictions.

In a landscape of many and layered challenges, artists continue to push boundaries and resist stasis but the opportunities to actually present work in a physical space have remained slim. With the chance to use a closed down shop in the city centre, Claire ran an open call for emerging, local artists hoping to share this resilience with the public.  Twelve artists were selected, all working in different visual arts disciplines and at the start of their creative practice.

Artists are: Joy Bews-Pick, Ainoa Burgos Gonzalez, Morag Caister, Hazel Davis, Adam Laurence, Elsa Monteith, Jade Hylton, Caitlin Irving, Julia Jolliffe, Lauren Joy Kennett, Helene McCarthy, Willow Ritchie.

This pop-up exhibition was made possible by @artistsopenhouses in partnership with Brighton Fringe and Churchill Square
