Self III spheroid

Alfonso Doncel

The work of Alfonso Doncel has a strong experimental aspect. Themes addressed are often related to identity and the journey of life, presenting carefully constructed contexts that lead the viewer towards reflections on the perception of reality, with veiled invitations to visit a plausible fiction. The artist hides these concepts under successive layers of information, allowing the viewer to choose their level of engagement with the different perceptual nuances. As a tireless creator of avant-garde pieces he stands out in the complex universe of contemporary art. His SELF collection contains innovative values in the constructive matter of three-dimensional stained glass, applying a 4D assisted design program that allows the projection and physical construction of sculptures with stainless steel and glass, and develops a novel system of stable setting of coloured cathedral-type glass, dichroic and iridescent, avoiding the usual use of lead.
