Families that Festival Together …

Number 10 in the fresh-off-the-presses Artist Open Houses Christmas Festival brochure is Bailey and Daughter in Grand Avenue in Hove.  Geoff is an accomplished photographer and his daughter Samantha is an emerging visual artist, working in painting, drawing and sculpture.

Goeff had some of his photography on display at last spring’s Artist Open House Festival at the venue at Nuffield Hospital.  This is the first time father and daughter have shown their work together, deciding to wait until Samantha completed her studies in Fine Art at Kingston Univerisity.  It promises to be a diverse show.  Geoff’s work features street and travel photography in colour and black and white, while Samantha’s works are paintings and life drawings and some sculptural pieces as well.  Both though, look for the personality of their subject and bring that out throught their work.

When asked their work influences each other Geoff has high praise for his daughter:  “Sam is a seriously good artist and that inspires me to work harder at my photography.”

Also showing at Bailey and Daughter are works by another family member, Goeff’s neice, Jo Keeling, who sadly passed away in 2005.

Bailey and Daughter will be at  Flat 4, Grand Avenue Mansions, Grand Ave, Hove from the start of the Festival on November 21 through to the end on December 13.
