Sussex Nightstop Christmas fundraiser – please help young people experiencing homelessness
AOH is proud to partner our local youth homeless charity: Sussex Nightstop. Since 2023 we have celebrated the unique way in which both movements utilise homes for the benefit of our community.
Just as our artists throw open their homes to showcase great art, Sussex Nightstop’s volunteer hosts offer a spare room to young people for short overnight stays, while they find their new home.
It’s a clever, efficient way to address youth homelessness – a problem that has increased by 13% in the South East – propelled by the cost of living; high rents; zero-hour contracts and constrained job opportunities.
The service shows young people at a very difficult time that people care and things will get better, as this guest explained:
“It’s hard to sum up…. Overwhelming. I hope that people would recognise the impact Nightstop has here in Brighton. It’s very unique, brings a homely environment to a scary situation.”
