Artist Talk: James C Kent
Times: 6-8pm
An evening with the acclaimed photographer James Clifford Kent.
From Havana to the NHS frontline, James has built a practice shaped by some of the world’s most compelling human stories. In this talk, he reflects on his award-winning documentary photography, spanning social justice, cultural and commercial work, and on the compassionate, story-led approach behind it.
James brings a quiet intimacy to his subjects—from music icons and MMA to sex workers, people living on the edge, and healthcare workers and patients facing life-and-death situations—while never losing sight of the wider social narratives at play. Published widely (BBC News, The Guardian and The Times), he has developed a distinctive way of extending the reach and lifespan of his projects. Above all, he is a restless creative with an instinct for connecting with the people he photographs.
