Agnes Davis

Agnes Davis is an artist and writer, primarily painting larger-scale contemporary abstract expressionist work in oils and mixed media. She is driven by a desire for each painting to find and hold its own point of active balance.

Having grown up in the countryside, the structures and forces of nature recur throughout her work in organic forms, gestural marks, and a palette that leans toward luminous, earthy and softly vibrant tones.

Her painting process is responsive - a deep listening. She seeks to allow complex differences to exist together, and each work is a search for peace within that tension.

In 2014, Agnes gained a Master's in Creative Writing with Distinction from the University of Oxford. An inherent attention to metaphor and atmosphere carries over into visual language. She is currently writing her first novel.

Designed to hold a room, Agnes’s work brings the earth's vibrant, active presence into a space, and offers richness and lasting resonance.
