Guest Blog by Grace Eyre
As always our many artists at Grace Eyre have been busy working on individual and group projects over the last couple of months.
Our print group has been making final adjustments to the work for the new exhibition in our art space at Unit 2 in the Open Market on London Road.
Statement from the group
‘We work as a group to silkscreen stencils on to fabric. Here we have printed leaf designs onto fabric in individual frames.
We have made a background scene for the Musical Theatre group’s Disney Land performance – it is here hanging in the window and it is lit up by the light of this window.
We have also been using acrylic ink to print onto cotton bags using stencils that everyone has made within the sessions.’
Quotes from the group
‘I can show you how to do it. For me it was very easy and I was very good at it’ – Lauretta
‘I loved it all. I took the star stencils from the banner after we printed the colours’ – Sharon
We hope you’ll be able to come and visit the exhibition – it’s an inclusive space run by people with learning disabilities. All the work in the exhibition is for sale. The exhibition runs from 19 October – 10 November 2017 on Thursdays & Fridays between 11.30am-2pm.
