Sam Beck
Fascinated by surface and mark making, Sam’s work explores the relationship between our internal and external spaces. Her most recent body of work explores our experience of natural environments as reflective spaces, inspired by the constantly changing light as we move through open spaces and dense woodlands. This particular series is derived from those beautiful, frosty morning walks.Working in mixed media, she enjoys juxtaposing experimental and unexpected surfaces with elements of control. Fluidity and stillness.
Her fine art degree originally specialised in time based arts and installation work, often working with ephemeral materials and projections. These ideas of transience, suggestions of movement and change, still prevail in the 2D pieces she creates today.
