Ella Berthoud

Ella Berthoud is an artist and a bibliotherapist. She lives at the bottom of the South Downs and paints while listening to books, and occasionally writes one too. This year she is painting works inspired by Jose Saramago’s book Blindness, in which everyone except for one person goes blind, and experiences the world without ocular vision. This led Ella to blindfold herself and explore what it is like to see through your ears and your sense of space in the world. The paintings in The Infinite House are all about seeing with your ears, and hearing with your eyes.
