So I just cleared the last remnants of fireworks from the garden and swiftly reached for the boxes of Christmas decorations …Because it ’s Open House Season !! I have been doing Open House at Christmas for 6-7 years and rather like having a baby, when things get stressful its a case of “Never Again” , then give it a few months and I’ve forgotten all the sleepless nights and stress and am ready to do it again !!

Hosting an Open House means I can showcase my work and give others a great opportunity to reach new customers and art fans who love good nose round other peoples houses.

The main buzz from doing an Open House is the direct feedback from customers and visitors and spending time with other artists, we run a rota system for invigilating and it’s great getting to know new people and spending time with old friends.

I only open at Christmas time and I think it has a different vibe to the May Festival, the Christmas spirit is defiantly flowing, generally everyone is in a good mood and and its an excuse to wear sequins! Providing a huge choice for visitors is my priority and I try to include makers working in all kinds of media with all price ranges.  I have several new (to the house) artists this year, including Sebastian Dewing, who runs Artroom, he works with rusted metal with diamond dust to create iconic Star Wars scenes. Another new Artist for us is Ali, from the Age of Reason Studios. She is bringing her wonderful prints and cushions and silk scarves .

This year we are also introducing a resident Nail Artist, Yasmin Beauty who will be available for onsite express manicures on Saturday 2nd December and for our late night shopping event. Speaking of which, Tuesday 5th December 6.30-9.30 is late night shopping with special guest Secret Store and Yasmin Beauty. Not only will the Open House be open for perusal but Secret Store have curated an amazing collection of Preloved and new Designer clothes, including labels such as Isabel Marant, Rixo, Jigsaw, Joseph, Marni and much much more !!! This night is a must for savvy fashionistas as it’s a great chance to snap up discounted designer clothes !!

We will serving drinks and trying on fabulous outfits !! Very excited about this, it gives people a chance to check out the house mid week in the evening which can be useful as weekend in the run
up to Christmas can be hectic!!
