Intaglio Printmaking

  • Date:

Times: Sunday 24th May

This interactive workshop will offer you the skills and ability to incorporate intaglio printmaking techniques into your practice without any specialised equipment. Using the techniques of collagraph and drypoint, Ailbhe Callanan will demonstrate how she employs waste and found material as printing plates, utilising both autographic and photographic imagery to create prints. You will learn about paper preparation, mark-making on various plate surfaces, and finally, inking and printing your plate by hand.

This workshop is suitable for beginners who are keen to start exploring printmaking, or for more experienced printmakers who want to develop their skills but don’t have access to a printing press. We welcome participants aged 16+.

Ailbhe Callanan is an Irish artist based in East Sussex, having recently graduated with a BA in Fine Art Printmaking from the University of Brighton. She has exhibited in many group exhibitions across the south of England, most notably at Phoenix Art Space, Brighton; Marine Workshops, Newhaven; Unit 2, St-Leonards-on-Sea; and Bosla Arts, London. She is currently based in Old School Studios where she continues to develop her practice as an artist and printmaker.
