Hiroko Lewis

Combining tempera, oil, and haku metal leaf, I aim to integrate representation and abstraction. Starting with a hint of something remembered or observed, often derived from nature, my work expands these fragments into a new world using a process of construction, destruction, and reconstruction, in search of another sensory reality.

After graduating in Fine Art at Kanazawa college of Art, I pursued a career as artist, porcelain pattern designer, and illustrator in Japan. Since moving to Brighton in 2011, I have focused on fine art.
