I enjoy exploring and experimenting with materials and processes that have the potential for unpredictability.
My practice usually starts with some observation of growth structure or pattern in the natural world. I then distil rules that initially provide the logic for the making. My response to the materials and the work soon takes over and determines the next stage. Curiosity and the element of surprise drive me, not knowing what will unfold, what will be revealed and what will be the final outcome. I am fascinated by the tension between order and the unpredictable.
