Renee Graham Adriani

My work is inspired by an affinity with nature: the sky, the sea and the sun.

I collect leaves, grasses and flowers locally, and this is reflected in the intricate detail that forms the background of each of my prints.

I create images with water-soluble printing inks, using a gelatine printing process. This is a form of monoprinting that uses a gelatine slab as a printing ‘plate’.

The artwork is entirely crafted by hand. I cut masks in the shape of birds, fish and other things from nature, which are placed on to my printed backgrounds. I position each one to complement its shape and to create a layered effect. Every one of my prints is unique.

This technique constantly inspires me in my work; it is limitless in its possibilities and continues to surprise and delight me.
