Double Slit- Canvas & Cello
Times: 1-3pm
Aurora and Bela share their curiosity around how being observed can effect channelled Cello playing and mark making- come and be an observer and witness what unfolds.
How does observation affect creativity? To what extent can live, improvising artists be true to self and aligned with the other, in the presence of an audience – especially one which is so physically interwoven with the performance space?
This responsive visual and sonic art performance – with Bela Emerson & Aurora Ananda – is an exploration of the Double Slit phenomenon within a live art context.
The Double Slit experiment was a study where scientists observed the behaviour of photons passing through 2 slits in a partition to see how they would behave and what pattern they would make after passing though the slits. The scientists happened to notice that when the photons were being observed they behaved differently as to when they were just left to shoot out at random. This brought their attention to matter being affected by a watching eye or even judgement/ thoughts.
Both Aurora and Bela have a strong bond and are confident performers… the curiosity lies in what passes through them as they are watched and if it impacts their authentic expression!
