Mono Print evening course
Times: Wednesday 6.30pm-9.30pm
Wednesday evening – 6.30pm-9.30pm – 31st May – £30
This Monoprinting course will appeal to anyone wishing to explore and experience a spontaneous and expressive technique to produce one-off, unique, colourful prints. As the technique is fast and immediate, there is huge potential for experimentation with marks, colour and texture.
As with traditional Monoprinting techniques, oil based printing ink is applied directly onto thin, plastic and metal plates using a wide variety of colours, painterly marks, block colour, blends and washes. This course then combines natural materials; leaves, grasses, foliage and found materials, such as; string, net and lace with these initial marks to produce exciting, layered and dynamic images printed using the Etching press.
The type of foliage used is specific so instructions on what to gather, will be provided before the course begins. No botanical knowledge is needed.
Natural and found materials will also be available for use, in the studio.
The course will begin with a short, ‘hands on’ demonstration and talk to explain overlaying, registration and colour mixing techniques. For those experienced in other Printmaking mediums, there is an opportunity to learn how to combine this Monoprint technique with Etching and Relief processes, if requested.
