Dorota Biniecka Art

Online only

Contemporary landscape artist painting with oils, using visible brush strokes and thick, sculpted layers to give paintings tactile character. Dorota paints from her studio on a hilltop at the edge of the Downs in Southwick with her cherished art station – a blocky Victorian drop lid davenport. An anchor to the many creative lives it lived.

She captures dramatic skies, expansive open spaces and rolling hills of rural landscapes and landmarks of Poland and England. Dorota’s art intends to connect us with nature, the land around us and our homes and memories we create there. It’s where we retreat to recharge and restore so we can again venture beyond what’s visible or known.

An in situ photo of a clay coloured wall with a centrally positioned painting in a white frame. Beside it there is a plant, a stack of books and an antique brown ceramic lamp with a hand painted rectangular lampshade. The lampshade features panoramic views of locations from around Roedean, Devil's Dyke and Southwick. The textured palette knife landscape painting pictures Amberley Mount. Soft clouds and a light blue sky contrast with spring greens of the rolling hills and a waving river. In the foreground, the view is framed by a wooden gate and the South Downs Way path in the bottom left corner.
