An exhibition of work by local emerging artists
Celebrating emerging talent in Brighton & Hove, ALTERED invites artists to share ways in which they have experimented, modified or adapted their practices in light of recent restrictions; maybe resulting in new ways of thinking and making work.
With limited access to the studio, darkroom or workshop, artists have been navigating new approaches and, as a consequence, discovering innovative ways of working. This exhibition seeks to showcase recent works by artists setting out on their creative practices, reflecting ways in which they have continued to create and push boundaries despite the challenges of living through lockdown.
Work has been selected that has been created during the past year in recognition of the difficulties that the pandemic has brought to exhibition-making, especially for those in the early stages of their careers. The exhibition offers an important element in the post-lockdown return of culture to our city.
